Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, organized, and community-oriented individual to serve as our Bookmobile Program Coordinator & Fundraising Assistant. This unique hybrid role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of literacy outreach and nonprofit development. You’ll be responsible for managing our bookmobile schedule, programming, and logistics while also supporting fundraising efforts that sustain and grow our impact.

Key Responsibilities

Bookmobile Program Coordination (Approximately 80%)

  • Plan, schedule, and operate the Greater Literacy Foundation’s bookmobile across various neighborhoods, schools, and community events.

  • Develop and facilitate literacy-focused programs for children, teens, and adults (e.g., storytime, reading circles, book giveaways, pop-up libraries).

  • Coordinate with community partners, schools, and local organizations for collaborative outreach.

  • Maintain bookmobile inventory, ensure vehicle readiness, and track usage statistics.

  • Serve as the public face of the foundation at mobile events, promoting literacy and library engagement.

Fundraising Assistance (Approximately 20%)

  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and donor outreach efforts.

  • Maintain donor databases, track contributions, and help prepare impact reports and acknowledgments.

  • Research grant opportunities and help with proposal writing and submission processes.

  • Collaborate on social media and marketing efforts that support fundraising goals and community awareness.

  • Support donor stewardship through personalized communication.

Qualifications

  • Passion for literacy, community development, and equity in education.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Comfortable driving the bookmobile (training provided if necessary); valid driver’s license required.

  • Interest or background in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or grant writing a plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, mission-driven team.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Flexible schedule with occasional weekend events.

  • Includes both mobile/outdoor work and desk-based administrative tasks.

  • Vehicle provided for bookmobile operations.
